RENOVATING. REINVIGORATING. REDOING. RETHINKING.
Hello and thank you for sticking with me until this very day! A lot has happened since this blog went on hiatus. I'll spare you the details, but things are only going to be even more organized and better-looking in 2018! Right now I'm still a student, so the amount of time I have to manage this blog and my online life is limited; I apologize to anyone who is expecting something from me! You'll get it, I promise- just- be patient as I try to sort out my life, and what I'm going to do in the future. c: I'm thinking for now, that I'll start renovating by dividing this blog into different portions: - Main Dumpyard Blog (Where the hodge-podge of my daily life sketches go.) - Evelyn Blog (Updates on Evelyn, a webcomic I thought up of in 2015, and began working on last year.) - Remmie (Updates on an indie video game I'm still developing ideas for. Super-duper early in the process!!) - Writing Blog (I've been writing poems, and it'd probably be nice if I shared those online. Other stuff too.) - A 'Portfolio' section with the best selection of my most recent, and best material. Work on Flawless is officially paused for now; Evelyn and Remmie will have the most of my attention from now on. Current menu webpages will be hidden, and I'll be using the power of web design to make this look better~! Let's make 2018 a year full of productivity, progress, and improvement! This is Kitty, signing out~.

This... was a learning process. I'll have to do this again and again to cement it in my mind, though! :'D Process screenshots below! Some notes I scribbled to myself. uwu Everything before this is self-explanatory... these are just notes I leave for myself when I take a break, so that I have something to pick up when I come back. At this point, I just added individual strands to everything that was 'unfinished.' Touch-ups followed, and voila! The finished product. :'D
I really need a break from this drawing, so I'll just... ...walk you guys through the making of it, I guess. uwu' First comes the outline! I'm still using my sketch for this phase, and it's a bit of a pain in the butt, because I need to show forms without being able to clearly see their outline... uwu' More markings... this particular character was very confusing to mark up, but I'm happy with the result. uwu Oh- hey! I added the rough outline of some shine earlier, and now I've blended it to create a basic texture. :'D Some shadows and more texture for the hair. Oh, plus, basic texturing for the metal-arm-attachments. uwu Some notes to myself regarding what I need to do in order to improve the drawing at this stage. I made those changes, and I'm pretty happy with them! More colors... The start of the fur texturing! :'D Continuous fur texturing... I'm still struggling to make this work, but it's getting there~.
:'D Thanks for reading~. Difference between two drawings = 154 days, aka an average of 5 months, or around 3696 hours. HEEEEEEEEEEY, LOOK AT THAT IMPROVEMENT. Do you see the limbs in the first drawing, imao.
And the edge of the cliff. Oh, and the background too. Not to mention- Tisp's expression and posture, mhm! Ah- the angle too.. PLUUS, the colors..! And on top of everything? The shading, mmmmm.. The one to the right is more of an unfinished sketch that I used to mess around with color theory and stuff; the one to the left was created for the exact same purpose, but was finished instead of left around, lol. It still shows the improvement I've made from the beginning of this year though... hmmm... I believe I need to focus on; - expressing emotions more through angles, colors, perspectives, expressions, body posture, and etc. - making my art more dynamic! - focusing on focal points and "leading the eye" through a piece - creating more texture, and studying how light reflects off of different things - learn to use negative space to my advantage in order to create a better composed piece - drawing HUMANS and drawing basic face details I will be able to do this by; - studying artistic interpretations of expressions and replicating them (Skitea or the artist in 'Love Trial'), studying and drawing from references of expressive people (humans) - studying artistic interpretations of dynamic poses (Skitea, Tamberella, 1Apple-Fox1, and others), looking up references for dynamic poses and drawing them, using a line of action to create basic dynamicness, thinking about the focal points + 'flow/ path the eye follows' in a piece // GESTURE DRAWING USING https://line-of-action.com/practice-tools/figure-drawing/ - think more about the placement of each individual element within a "great/ amazing" drawing, (not a "good" or "okay") and have the most obvious focal point separated from the other focal points by extreme contrast (color, space, texture, saturation, flow, etc.) - replicating a digital painting done by Tamberella or someone else with extremely good fur texturing - draw a bunch of composition-al pieces with the main focus on the background, and less focus on the character! draw some silhouettes if you need to; use references for the background - using the method Tamberella prescribed! xD // http://tamberella.deviantart.com/art/How-to-Draw-ANYTHING-594318716// FIGURE DRAWING USING https://line-of-action.com/practice-tools/figure-drawing/ FINAL NOTES TO SELF; - xxxx (I had stuff to add, but now it's slipped my mind.) Guess who's still finishing up pieces from a year and a half ago? On another note, the sketch for this took slightly longer than usual, because I was trying to use an actual reference... can you believe that I went all this time without using references for ears? I mean, just look at my earlier art, imao. Ears DO NOT look like that. USE YOUR REFERENCES, KIDS~.
Aaah, yes, My Hero Academia, and then Attack on Titan. Perfection. x33 How does one fur? I added notes here (this was done based on a tutorial), but I still don't know how to fur properly. ;^; I've got to get better, I've got to hit it big, I've got to get better, c'mon chant it with me! On another note-- if anyone is using CSP (Clip Studio Paint), this is a breakdown of how I shade... essentially. xD Again; how does one draw fur? I still have no idea.
I finished editing together the raw audio (I know, it took me a grand total of 7 days, huh?) for some critique videos I'm making... and, uh... they're experimental for now!
I also 'fixed' the background as much as I could; I should probably have spent more time on it, but that's not my focus for now. I've already marked this piece down as a piece I want to recreate for my final portfolio~! On that note-- I need to get better. Either that, or I need to start pumping out a bunch of... idk, whatever will help me make it big~. 'Cause my future kinda depends on that. uwu' BUT IN TERMS OF FUTURE- HEEEEEEEY, PERSON WHO IS PROBABLY READING THIS- KNOW THAT ily, okay? x3 Also, if you're reading this early in the morning- just... don't. xD You need your sleep. SLEEP WELL AND LIVE WELL, DAMNIT. xDD |
